HIGHLIGHT FILM FOR NFL SCOUTS
This client had reached out as he needed a highlight film put together featuring the best plays of his college career as a wide receiver at the University of South Dakota. This film would be distributed to NFL scouts by his agent in order to showcase the client’s ability and get his name out there. In addition to showing actual game footage, the client wanted his career statistics and combine testing numbers to be incorporated into the beginning of the film so it would serve as a “player resume” to scouts viewing the video. The client provided the game footage for me, and I took it from there. For portfolio purposes, I’ve only shown the “intro” to the video, as the remaining footage just shows the individual plays (doesn’t showcase much graphic design/videography by me).
INFORMATIONAL INTRO
-
Knowing the main target audience would be NFL scouts, I really focused on being precise and not too "artsy"--scouts are busy, no-nonsense people, and seeing something too "frilly" could cause them to turn off the video within the first few seconds.
-
At the same time, I felt it was necessary to use professional looking motion graphics to showcase that this player (and this video) is the real deal, even though he played for a smaller Division I school
-
Though there was a lot of information to display, I didn't want to leave the graphics up for too long as I wanted to keep the attention of the viewer. Because this is a video, viewers can simply pause it if they need more time to read the on-screen information.
