ABOUT ME
My first summer job in college was a part-time graphic designer at a local newspaper, The Equalizer. I would cut out pictures, pair them with text, and create various sized print ads for local businesses. As tedious as it was at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Graphic design was part of my college curriculum, but it wasn’t my main focus, as I was going into sports broadcasting. Once I started working as a sports reporter, I saw that graphic design and videography greatly enhanced my content as an on-air personality/storyteller, and I began to expand my creative design skills even more.
A huge reason that I went into sports reporting was because I’ve always had a passion for storytelling. Sports have always been a huge part of my life, and they’ve provided an avenue for me to meet and engage with a variety of people from all sorts of backgrounds. Although athletics provide a common ground, I’ve always loved learning more about people beyond what they bring to the court, field, or ice. In my reporting career, I was able to get creative with my on-air broadcasting, videography and writing to tell people’s stories.
As fulfilling as it was, personally, to engage with people and piece together video and sound to tell their stories, I wanted these incredible messages to reach as many others as possible. With that, and with the avenue of social media, I dove even deeper into incorporating graphic design into my videography to reach a variety of eyes across multiple platforms. Great stories are all around us, but if nobody knows about them, they’re not reaching their full potential.
I’ve pivoted from being in front of the camera full-time and have cannonballed into my passion for graphic design + videography, but the storytelling aspect remains the same.
Like it or not, we live in a visual world. People truly do need to SEE to BELIEVE. There are so many talented individuals and companies out there, but the reach of their talents and services is hindered simply because their visions aren’t visual.
That’s where I come in. Let’s work together to show the world what you have to offer.
